Raise your hand if you are in need of a new cell phone.
*hand raised*
If any of you are like me, you know how hard it is to choose a new phone. There are all the vital stats such as carrier, plan, brand, etc. These things are all important during the research phase.
Currently, I am looking to upgrade and have been checking out smart phones. Yes, I like the idea of being able to access my e-mail and social networks via my handy, dandy cell phone. Currently, I have a not-so-smart phone that needs desperately to be replaced. That is where Mommas Reviews comes in. There is a Droid Eris giveaway going on over there. If you're interested, maybe you should try your luck as well. If not, cross your fingers for me, I really need this.
Thanks!

I found myself
I found myself crying today. It was strange. Crying is not typical for me. I'm pretty much a suck-it-up type of woman. I don't like the loss of control that crying makes me feel. But I did. I cried.
For the first time, in a long time, I cried. Not for the reasons I should cry, for all the things I have left behind.
Today, I noticed how much influence the life I've lived has had on me. I looked in the mirror and saw my mother's smile. I heard myself use words I only hear my grandmom say. I poured ketchup and hot sauce on my omelet just the way my uncle always did. I longed for a Mountain Dew and a lemon Tastykake pie just like my grandpop did everyday.
It's amazing the influences people have on you, even when you don't notice. I cannot imagine my life any other way than the way I've lived it; the good, the bad and everything in between.
I guess what I am saying is... I found myself. I found me in every one of them. They all played such a great part in shaping me into the woman I am today. I am very proud of who I am and all that I have accomplished. I am proud of what they instilled in me.

Slooooow Dooooown
These past two weeks have been crazy hectic. I am a bit of a procrastinator and in an effort to break that nasty, little habit, I have been pushing myself to work ahead of schedule. In doing so, I have been driving the whole family mad. LOL. But, so far, we are ahead of schedule.
The last minute call came in that the semester would be ending on Friday and, again, I had to push to make sure everything was done and turned in on time. I drove myself batty on this. In the end, I am hoping everything was taken care of and nothing was missed.
One thing I made sure to find time for, outside of my lovely children, is twitter. I have been enjoying myself attending tweetchat parties and such. It's a cool networking tool, where I can hang out and have conversations with other moms, something I can't do where I live. There are a lot of people in our neighborhood, but not many I can relate to or get along with, I guess is the best way to put it.
I've also won some cool prizes via twitter. I won a superfly hat from www.kidcuteture.com via the Organic Girl blog (button to the right)
I also won a super sexy purse from www.handbagheaven.com via the Wishing Penny blog (button to the right) I cannot wait for the purse. They have asked me to send a photo when I get it for them to post on their blog.
Ah, and how can I forget, anyone who has my hotmail address received an email about www.lush.co.uk sent out. My daughter and I were featured at the end of the email. We will receive a You're a Star gift box. She and I are both excited as Lush is our favorite shop on the planet. We have entered many of their contests but never won.
Anyhoo, I wanted to catch up and keep you guys updated on my so-called life.
At the moment I am boiling a pot of collard greens and preparing a baked make and cheese. Yum!
Gotta go!

Gimme Now!
I. Want. Soda. NOW!
Giving up soda is kicking my butt. I would be glad for any kind, right about now. I KNOW I don't need it. I WANT IT. It makes food taste better or so it seems. I feel disoriented and confused without it.
I KNOW I don't need it. I am gonna be so much better for it once it's outta my life. I really am trying. Yesterday, I tried to convince the kids to convince me that Fanta isn't soda. They laughed. That didn't go over so well. The man definitely won't let me have it.
I know it's for the best.
*sigh*
I'll be fine.

Sayonara 2009
I am not the first to say this but I am GLAD to see this year end. This year was crazy for me in so many ways. While people were assuming they knew, they truly had NO idea.
The death toll this year was more than I could bear. By the end of October my failing health took a wrong turn. I'd been trying for a long time just to maintain myself but it all caught up to me.
There were so many petty things going on and petty people trying to get me down throughout the year but nothing bothered me until my uncle became ill. Soon after, my paternal grandmother passed away... and so on. It was crazy, hectic and confusing at times.
One thing I know I will take into 2010: Don't sweat the petty stuff. I never have and never will. Outside forces rarely bother me and I won't allow them to start.
My kids come first, then me. Everyone else falls in line. If it doesn't affect me or them...I ain't affected.
For the few who thought they would defeat me these past few years: Give up already. You only make yourself look as stupid as you truly must feel. Am I really worth all the trouble. I wasn't hurt then and I am not hurting now. Just get over me. Get your mind and life right. I forgive you. Forgive yourself.
Biggest thing I learned: Forgive myself. I am not the reason why others are unhappy, they are. And I cannot be expected to fix everyone's problems. It starts with them. If they wanna fix it, they will. Stop expecting me to do it for you.
Adios 2009! I am looking forward to a better year because I am going to MAKE a better year. 2010, look out. I am on my way!

The birthday blog
It was my intention to do the birthday blog yesterday as I do every year. Usually, I focus on the things I wish to change. This time the only thing I've changed is my mind. I'm content with who I am. If you are not, work on that. I have and I did.
I'm moving forward with or without whomever. I have nothing but high expectations of myself in everything I do. I will succeed. I will be happy and healthy this coming year. I will keep my priorities straight as needed. I recognize that my priorities may not be the same as others. If we are not on the same page, mine are mine. Do you.
My prime focus is my children's education. They will continue to exceed expectations, as will I.
I feel I am a year older, a year wiser. While other's are trying to remain stranded in the past (30 is the new 20) I'm steadily moving forward. At 34, I should not be making the choices I made at 24.
I feel good about myself, my accomplishments and my goals.
I shall will it all to be.
